The RTA is now the UK's official Majorette World Federation member

The Royal Twirling Association is now the United Kingdom's official member of the Majorette World Federation. For the first time, dancers competing here have a recognised route that runs from a local troupe floor all the way to international competition.

For years, British baton twirlers and majorettes have trained to a high standard without a clear path beyond domestic competition. Membership of the MWF changes that. It gives the United Kingdom a seat at the international table and gives dancers something concrete to aim for.

What this means for dancers

The practical change is a pathway. Dancers who compete with an RTA-affiliated troupe can register their interest in representing the United Kingdom internationally, and invitations to audition are issued from that pool. Registration is open to any eligible dancer rather than limited to a closed shortlist.

How selection works

Selection runs through Team UK auditions. Dancers register their interest, the RTA reviews registrations, and invitations to audition follow. Those selected form the squad that represents the United Kingdom at Majorette World Federation events. Your troupe leader can confirm whether your troupe is affiliated.

What happens next

The first Team UK auditions take place this November in Leeds, and invitations have already begun going out to early registrants. Beyond that, the RTA season continues with the Regional Championships in September and the National Championships in October, both of which give dancers competitive experience ahead of international selection.
