Terms & Conditions
Terms governing the use of the RTA website, registration, competition entry, and payments.
Last updated: March 2026
1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Royal Twirling Association (RTA) website at https://royaltwirlingassociation.co.uk, your registration with the RTA, and your participation in RTA events and competitions.
By using our website, creating an account, or registering for an event, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services.
2. Definitions
"RTA" means the Royal Twirling Association, co-founded by Liam Crooks and Shauna Stephenson.
"Member" means any individual who has created an account on the RTA website, including troupe leaders, parents, guardians, and dancers.
"Event" means any competition, workshop, show, or other activity organised or sanctioned by the RTA.
"Troupe" means a registered baton twirling or majorette team affiliated with the RTA.
3. Account Registration
To access certain features of the website, you must create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
You must provide accurate and complete information during registration. If any of your details change, you must update your account promptly.
For dancers under 16, a parent or guardian must create and manage the account on the child's behalf.
Linked Children: If you are a registered dancer who is also a parent or guardian, you may add your children directly to your dancer account via the "My Children" section of your dashboard. This allows you to manage your own membership and your children's memberships from a single login.
Transferring Child Accounts: If your child was previously registered under a separate parent-only account and you wish to transfer them to your dancer account, please contact the RTA at admin@royaltwirlingassociation.co.uk. The RTA will re-link the child's dancer record to your account, preserving their membership status, troupe affiliations, and competition history. The previous parent-only account may then be deleted upon your request.
Each child dancer record can only be linked to one parent or guardian account at a time. The linked parent or guardian is responsible for managing the child's membership, providing consent, and keeping emergency contact and medical information up to date.
The RTA reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that are found to contain false information or that breach these Terms.
4. Membership & Affiliation
Troupe leaders may apply to affiliate their troupe with the RTA. Affiliation is subject to approval by the RTA committee and payment of the applicable affiliation fee.
Affiliation is valid for the competition season in which it is granted and must be renewed annually.
The RTA reserves the right to refuse or revoke affiliation at its discretion, including for breach of RTA policies or bringing the sport into disrepute.
5. Competition Entry
Entry to RTA competitions is subject to availability and payment of the applicable entry fees. Entry is confirmed only upon receipt of full payment.
Entry fees are non-refundable once the registration deadline has passed, except in exceptional circumstances at the RTA's discretion.
The RTA reserves the right to amend competition schedules, categories, rules, and venues. Every effort will be made to communicate changes in a timely manner.
Dancers must compete in the age group determined by their age on the day of the competition.
6. Payments & Refunds
All payments are processed securely via Stripe. By making a payment, you agree to Stripe's terms of service.
Affiliation fees: Non-refundable once the affiliation has been approved and confirmed.
Competition entry fees: Refundable up to the stated registration deadline. No refunds will be issued after the deadline except in cases of serious illness or bereavement (evidence may be required).
Event tickets: Refundable up to 14 days before the event date. No refunds within 14 days of the event except in exceptional circumstances.
If the RTA cancels an event, a full refund will be issued to all affected participants.
Refund requests should be submitted to admin@royaltwirlingassociation.co.uk.
7. Intellectual Property
All content on the RTA website, including text, images, logos, branding, and design, is the property of the Royal Twirling Association and is protected by copyright and intellectual property laws.
You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content from the RTA website without prior written permission.
8. Limitation of Liability
The RTA takes all reasonable steps to ensure the safety and wellbeing of participants at its events. However, participation in baton twirling and majorette activities involves inherent risks.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the RTA shall not be liable for any loss, injury, or damage arising from participation in RTA events, except where caused by the RTA's negligence.
The RTA is not liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental losses arising from the use of the website or participation in events.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
9. Website Use
You agree to use the RTA website only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of others or restrict their use of the website.
The RTA may update, modify, or discontinue any part of the website at any time without notice.
While we strive to keep the website available, we do not guarantee uninterrupted access and shall not be liable for any downtime.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
11. Changes to These Terms
The RTA reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
